June's Buggin' Me Pub Crawl

Must be the "It seems like you need a drink" depressed, stuck in the heat for the summer, look on my face that has led to all the one on one sistah time pub crawling, since my own sistah is far away. Started days ago at the in-the-mall-bubble ZTejas for a farewell for the summer lucky girl, off to Holland, South Africa and France, poor thing, but she remembered working the opening of ZTejas long before the mall was in a bubble. From the old to the new, crawled over to the "if you build it, they will come" Downside Risk at Gainey Village for a total, hot-to-trot meat market - need a 55 - 70 year old new guy? then this is your place, but we didn't, well I didn't, my date did, but stuck in a never-ending divorce not quite ready, so continued the crawl across parking lot to the also new Cask 32 (lost the Bloom) for a little peace and quiet. Next up, post-yoga, zenned over to Scratch with amazing yogi Mary for a little green tea, how lucky are we that she moved yoga to Saturdays for the summer! Then, circle of life, back to the bubbled ZTejas and high school for a last minute, last day of June pow wow with Arcadia chum. Oh, the drama of the girls. The heat is on, but maybe we'll make it through the summer after all.
Bring it on July...

Hair Today...

While Shana's out house-hunting with her future roomies, here's a little hair tip before she leaves me for good.

Go to bed with a big bun and wake up with this...

Marinara Man

Buy the guy some fresh oregano and he's in heaven. Shawn whipped up a batch of marinara that lasted for days, culminating in this work of art - stacked eggplant marinara mozzarella atop sautéed spinach with parmesan ciabatta triangles.

Never an all night sock hop kind of guy, I wasn't even a glimmer in Old Wildcat's eyes back in the 50s, so today we were just a couple of matinee-loving cool cats pretending to go back in time to saddle shoes and rolled up jeans at the Five & Diner along with The Pink Ladies and jukeboxes for a Peachy Keen good time.

Happy Father's Day!

Girls (and boys) of Summer

Double Header
Shana battered-up with her old summer team for a great couple of games, manning first base like nobody's business. Even Shawn caught a fly foul ball, stunning the crowd, while we cheered on the gang on a pretty June night.

Skirting The Issue

No wonder I put it off for so long. Doing the florescent-lit pasty white skin, blubber belly, step-it-in wiggle jiggle dance into a not so Miracle Suit in front of a full-length mirror is too humiliating for anyone more than once in a decade. Recently, I even got invited to a girly, girly "does this make my butt look fat?" bathing suit shopping extravaganza. A witness in the dressing room! OMG. What was she thinking? I'm sure it was due to the pathetic stuck-in-the-80s turquoise blue flowered number I donned Sunday afternoon at a semi-public pool party that was just screaming "Please! Help Lisa now!" After throwing away all of the stretched out, faded, saggy suits one by one over the years, June hit and I was down to only one. One that shouldn't be let out of my own backyard. So today I sucked it all in and ventured out. Tempted to just get the pig roast luau-inspired ruffly floral moo-moo next to the rack of suits, never get in a pool again and call it a day, I forged ahead. After twenty attempts, the only one to make it out of the Spandex pile was one with a skirt. Yes, a skirt. That's how bad it is these days. To add to the humiliation, I think I'll stop coloring my hair to complete the whole grey-haired grandma in a skirted swim suit look.

Sunday Stuff

Hilarious flick with the maybe we should move movie madness to Sunday crowd.
Followed up with fun, twice in one weekend, family lunch at Blanco and never got to the Groove Merchants
because of all the debauchery in the pool
during the new, mark your calendars, Sunday Swim pool party.
Almost drowned Leslie due to a floating babelicious wardrobe malfunction (something always seems to fall off with this crowd).

Movie Madness - Hysteria

Talk about a Happy Ending!! Hilarious romp with a perfect cast proving what I've always believed - the best medicine for all those cranky, cranky housewives out there is a nice guy and a little lovin'!

Pow Wow in the Pines

I'm a WINNER!!! After months of living in Loserville, tethered to the office, I high-tailed it to Jill's place up north for happy hour by the lake, feet up on the porch, games of Washers and Dominoes - where almost everything I touched turned into a winning play (much to the dismay of my fellow Northern Exposurettes), lunching and antique-ing in town, Lion's Denning with the Fancy, Fancy knee padded lovelies as the Fab Four turned a quick escape into a brand new brass-balled attitude.
Ronnie, Becky and Jill toasting the sunset.

The hostess with the mostess.
