Virgins of Paradise

It took a week and a half, but I finally finished it - Virgins of Paradise (excellent recommendation from Nancy). Over 500 pages of Egyptian drama, generations of family secrets, war, sex, banishment, imprisonment, religion, education, traditions, repressed childhood memories, love and, finally, at the very end, the meaning of life.  Gotta read it to find out...
